Susan's career has spanned over 30 years in the field of application development. She began as a programmer developing applications for corporations in Atlanta, Georgia, working with a variety of hardware and software platforms. She joined IBM in 1985 and quickly developed a close association with the Rochester laboratory during the development of the AS/400 system.

Susan worked in Rochester, Minnesota for 5 years in the AS/400 Technical Support Center. She later moved to the IBM Toronto Software Laboratory to provide technical support for programming languages and AD tools on IBM i.

Susan left IBM in 1999 to devote more time to teaching and consulting. Her primary emphasis is on enabling customers to take advantage of the latest programming and database technologies on IBM i, including the latest features in today's modern RPG language and development tools such as RDi.

Susan is a regular speaker at user group and other technical conferences around the world and holds a number of Speaker Excellence medals from COMMON. She writes frequently for both IBM Systems Magazine and for the Guru newsletter published by IT Jungle.

Susan is an IBM Champion and a Technical Editor and regular author for IBM Systems Magazine.

Jon Paris

Jon's IBM midrange career started when he fell in love with the System/38 while working as a consultant. This love affair ultimately led him to joining IBM.

In 1987, Jon was hired by the IBM Toronto Laboratory to work on the S/36 and S/38 COBOL compilers. Subsequently Jon became involved with the AS/400 and in particular COBOL/400.

In early 1989 Jon was transferred to the Languages Architecture and Planning Group, with particular responsibility for the COBOL and RPG languages. There he played a major role in the definition of the new RPG IV language and in promoting its use with IBM Business Partners and Users. He was also heavily involved in producing educational and other support materials and services related to other AS/400 programming languages and development tools, such as CODE/400 and VisualAge for RPG.

Jon left IBM in 1998 to focus on developing and delivering education focused on enhancing IBM i application development skills.

Jon is a frequent speaker at User Groups meetings and conferences around the world, and holds a number of speaker excellence awards from COMMON. He also writes frequently for both IBM Systems Magazine and the Guru newsletter published by IT Jungle.

Jon is an IBM Champion and a Technical Editor and author with IBM Systems Magazine.

Paul Tuohy, IBM Champion and author of Re-engineering RPG Legacy Applications and The Programmer's Guide to iSeries Navigator, is a prominent consultant/trainer/educators for application modernization and development technologies on the IBM Midrange. He currently holds positions as CEO of ComCon, a consultancy firm based in Dublin, Ireland, and founding partner of System i Developer, the consortium of top educators who produce the acclaimed RPG & DB2 Summit conference. Scott Klement

Scott Klement is the Director of Product Development and Support at Profound Logic Software. He also volunteers as a member of COMMON's Board of Directors and Strategic Education Team. He is the author of around 1,000 articles and a dozen open source projects. Scott's efforts to help out the IBM i Community have resulted in dozens of awards and accolades, including an IBM Innovation Award, Gary Guthrie Award, Al Barsa Scholarship, John T Earl Scholarship, medals from the American Society of Business Publication Editors, and the COMMON Speaker Excellence Hall of Fame. IBM has named Scott an IBM Champion for Power Systems.


Barbara Morris

Barbara Morris is the lead developer for the WDS compilers in the IBM Toronto Lab, having worked on RPG compilers since starting at IBM in 1989.

The first enhancement she developed was the ENDIF/ENDDO opcodes for RPG/400.

A few of the notable enhancements she developed were Open Access: RPG Edition; subprocedures; qualified data structures; call-interaction with Java; the XML opcodes, ON-EXIT, and DATA-INTO.

Barbara is a regular participant in several online RPG forums, and has published many articles about RPG.

Scott Forstie

Scott Forstie is a Senior Technical Staff Member within IBM i development and spends most of his time working as the Db2 for i Business Architect. He has worked on IBM operating system development since joining IBM in 1989.

Scott is a frequently published author, speaker at industry events around the globe and can be found @Forstie_IBMi and forstie@us.ibm.com. Scott is an avid runner and enjoys cooking.

Liam Allan

Liam Allan, an IBM Champion, helps IBM i development teams modernize their applications and bridge the gap between traditional and modern development practices. Founder of Works of Barry, he specializes in DevOps, RPG, ILE, Node.js, PHP, PASE and open source. Ted Holt has worked in the information industry for over 30 years, primarily with IBM midrange systems. He currently serves as senior technical editor and writer for the Four Hundred Guru newsletter, published by ITJungle.com.

Ted has taught at the university, community college and vocational-technical school levels. He is the author or co-author of six books, and has published hundreds of articles and technical tips in various publications. He currently works as a Senior Software Developer for Profound Logic Software.

Kent Milligan

Kent Milligan is a Senior Db2 for i Consultant in the IBM Lab Services Power Systems Delivery Practice. Kent has over 25 years of experience as a Db2 for IBM i consultant and developer working out of the IBM Rochester lab. Prior to re-joining Lab Services in 2020, Kent spent 5 years working on healthcare solutions powered by IBM Watson technologies. Kent is a sought-after speaker and author on Db2 for i & SQL topics.

Alan Seiden

As an IBM Champion and founder of Seiden Group and Club Seiden, Alan and his team mentor CIOs and IBM i development teams on projects that involve integrations or high-performance web and mobile applications using IBM i business logic. Jesse Gorzinski

Jesse Gorzinski works for the IBM i development lab in Rochester, MN. He is the Business Architect for Open Source technologies for the IBM i platform.

Jesse, who was doing RPG programming at the age of 18, is an expert on application development on IBM i, as well as system access and modernization.

Mike Pavlak

Mike Pavlak has been working with IBM midrange solutions since 1992 and IBM Mainframes before that. After years of developing applications using RPG & CL he managed IT development and IT for power protection manufacturer Tripp Lite.

Later Mike was instrumental in developing the adoption of PHP as the first open source language on IBM i joined Zend Technologies. Today, as a Solution Architect with Profound Logic, Mike helps companies approach the challenges of modernization and open source technologies. In addition to several roles as a volunteer with COMMON Mike also teaches PHP & Python classes part time at Moraine Valley Community College in Suburban Chicago.

Mike is an IBM Champion and lives in suburban Chicago with his wife, five kids, a dog, a cat, two tortoises, and a half dozen fish.

Doug Mack

Doug Mack is a Db2 for i Analytics Consultant in IBM's Systems Lab Services organization. In that role he serves as Db2 Web Query Product Manager and leads the consulting team providing Db2 for i expertise.

Doug is a regular speaker at customer events including COMMON, IBM Technical Conferences and Executive Briefings and has written many articles and white papers on the attributes of Db2 for i for analytics.

Sue Romano

Sue Romano has worked on the Db2 for i SQL parser for almost 30 years and is very involved with designing new SQL services.

She represents Db2 for i on IBM's SQL Language Council, which ensures consistent SQL implementation across the Db2 family.

Sarah Mackenzie

Sarah Mackenzie is a IBM i developer. She has worked on IBM i development, focusing on database and query, since she joined IBM in 2012. During that time she has assisted with the design, development, and support of new functionality for IBM i including Multi-event Triggers, Temporal Table, and Db2 Mirror.
