Susan's career has spanned over 30 years in the field of application development. She began as a programmer developing applications for corporations in Atlanta, Georgia, working with a variety of hardware and software platforms. She joined IBM in 1985 and quickly developed a close association with the Rochester laboratory during the development of the AS/400 system.

Susan worked in Rochester, Minnesota for 5 years in the AS/400 Technical Support Center. She later moved to the IBM Toronto Software Laboratory to provide technical support for programming languages and AD tools on IBM i.

Susan left IBM in 1999 to devote more time to teaching and consulting.Her primary emphasis is on enabling customers to take advantage of the latest programming and database technologies on IBM i.

Susan is a regular speaker at user group and other technical conferences around the world and holds a number of Speaker Excellence medals from COMMON.

Susan is a Technical Editor and regular author for IBM Systems Magazine.

Jon Paris

Jon's IBM midrange career started when he fell in love with the System/38 while working as a consultant. This love affair ultimately led him to joining IBM.

In 1987, Jon was hired by the IBM Toronto Laboratory to work on the S/36 and S/38 COBOL compilers. Subsequently Jon became involved with the AS/400 and in particular COBOL/400.

In early 1989 Jon was transferred to the Languages Architecture and Planning Group, with particular responsibility for the COBOL and RPG languages. There he played a major role in the definition of the new RPG IV language and in promoting its use with IBM Business Partners and Users. He was also heavily involved in producing educational and other support materials and services related to other AS/400 programming languages and development tools, such as CODE/400 and VisualAge for RPG.

Jon left IBM in 1998 to focus on developing and delivering education focused on enhancing IBM i application development skills.

Jon is a frequent speaker at User Groups meetings and conferences around the world, and holds a number of speaker excellence awards from COMMON.

Jon is a Technical Editor and author with IBM Systems Magazine.

Paul Tuohy

Paul Tuohy, IBM Champion and author of Re-engineering RPG Legacy Applications and The Programmer's Guide to iSeries Navigator, is a prominent consultant/trainer/educators for application modernization and development technologies on the IBM Midrange. He currently holds positions as CEO of ComCon, a consultancy firm based in Dublin, Ireland, and founding partner of System i Developer, the consortium of top educators who produce the acclaimed RPG & DB2 Summit conference. Previously, he worked as IT Manager for Kodak Ireland Ltd. and Technical Director of Precision Software Ltd.

In addition to hosting and speaking at the RPG & DB2 Summit, Paul has been an award-winning speaker at COMMON, COMMON Europe Congress and other conferences throughout the world. Scott Klement is a computer geek (just like you!). He is a Product Developer at Profound Logic Software, and an award winning writer and speaker in the IBM i community.

He lives with his wife and son in the Milwaukee WI area.

Barbara Morris

Barbara Morris is the lead developer for the WDS compilers in the IBM Toronto Lab. She has been working on the RPG compilers since she started at IBM in 1989 after receiving a Computing Science degree from the University of Alberta. The first enhancement she developed was the ENDIF/ENDDO opcodes for RPG/400 in V2R1. Some of her more recent enhancements were Open Access: RPG Edition in 6.1 and the ability to sort and search data structure arrays in 7.1. Some of the other notable enhancements that she developed for RPG include subprocedures, qualified data structures, call-interaction with Java, and V5R4's native XML processing op-codes.

Barbara is a regular participant in several online RPG forums, and has published many articles about RPG.

Scott Forstie

Scott Forstie is a Senior Technical Staff Member within IBM i development and spends most of his time working as the DB2 for i Business Architect. He has worked on IBM operating system development since joining IBM in 1989.

In addition to his development responsibilities, he is the IBM i developerWorks content manager and IBM i Technology Updates wiki owner.

Scott is a frequently published author, speaker at industry events and can be found @Forstie_IBMi and forstie@us.ibm.com. Scott is an avid runner and enjoys cooking.

Liam Allan

Liam Allan, an IBM Champion, helps IBM i development teams modernize their applications and bridge the gap between traditional and modern development practices. Founder of Works of Barry, he specializes in DevOps, RPG, ILE, Node.js, PHP, PASE and open source. He also supports the community by creating open source tools — such as the ILEditor — that make IBM i development more intuitive for the next generation. His passion is to bring IBM i and the world of open-source closer together.

Charles Guarino

Charles Guarino believes in the "power" of IBM Power Systems. His career reflects his dedication and interest in bringing the platform and its solutions to others and as a result has been recognized as an IBM Champion.

He is a member of COMMON's Speaker Excellence Hall of Fame and a proud recipient of the Al Barsa Memorial Scholarship Award. Additionally, he participates on COMMON's Strategic Education Team. Ted Holt

Ted Holt has worked in the information industry for over 30 years, primarily with IBM midrange systems. He currently serves as senior technical editor and writer for the Four Hundred Guru newsletter, published by ITJungle.com.

Ted has taught at the university, community college and vocational-technical school levels. He is the author or co-author of six books, and has published hundreds of articles and technical tips in various publications. He currently works as a Senior Software Developer for Profound Logic Software.

Robert Bestgen

Rob Bestgen is an IBM DB2 for i architect and consultant. He has held a variety of roles including: database developer, database architect, Business Architect, chief architect of the DB2 for i SQL Query Engine (SQE), and product development manager. Rob is currently a proud member of the DB2 for i Lab Services team, helping customers utilize the amazing capabilities of DB2 for i, IBM i, and DB2 Web Query for i. Rob is also the product development manager for DB2 Web Query for i, the popular IBM i product for query reporting and analytics. Besides working directly with customers, he is also a frequent presenter at user conferences.

Alan Seiden

As an IBM Champion and founder of Seiden Group and Club Seiden, Alan and his team mentor CIOs and IBM i development teams on projects that involve integrations or high-performance web and mobile applications using IBM i business logic. He co-developed the PHP Toolkit with IBM, was one of the first Zend Framework certified engineers and a charter member of IBM/COMMON's PHP Advisory Board. Mike Pavlak

Mike Pavlak has been working with IBM midrange solutions since 1992 and IBM Mainframes before that. After years of developing applications using RPG, CL and PHP he recently joined Fresche as senior IT Strategist.
